There are many negative consequences of both hyper- and hypoglycemia. Therefore, glycemic targets to promote the highest possible level of health and well-being among people with diabetes have been suggested by a number of organizations. The purpose of this case study activity is to help RDNs navigate this increasingly complex maze of information and enable them to confidently implement or recommend appropriate interventions when encountering common diabetes management scenarios. This case study focuses on non-critically ill adults with type 2 diabetes in an inpatient setting, but many principles are applicable to other settings, such as private practice and long-term care.
