Live webinar: Wednesday, Nov. 18 at 2 p.m. EDT
1 CPEU-Eligible Live
Why do individuals respond differently to the same foods and dietary interventions? Nutrigenetics and nutrigenomics offer insight into how genetic variation can influence nutrient metabolism and how nutrients and dietary patterns may affect gene expression.
This introductory webinar will provide dietitians with a practical foundation in these rapidly evolving fields. Participants will explore key terminology and concepts, examine clinically relevant examples of gene–nutrient interactions, and learn how genetic information may contribute to more personalized nutrition care. The presentation will also address the current limitations of genetic testing, considerations when interpreting results, and the difference between evidence-based application and claims that extend beyond the available science.
Please note: CPEU certificates will be sent to live attendees only.
Learning objectives:
-
Differentiate nutrigenetics from nutrigenomics and explain the role of each in personalized nutrition.
-
Describe at least three examples of how genetic variation may influence nutrient metabolism, dietary response, or nutrition-related health outcomes.
-
Evaluate the potential clinical applications and current limitations of genetic information in nutrition assessment and intervention planning.
-
Identify key considerations for interpreting and communicating nutrition-related genetic information responsibly.
