Body composition looks beyond some of the typical anthropometric measurements dietitians often use. It assesses adipose tissue compared to muscle mass compared to bone density and allows dietitians to have a total and accurate understanding about what types of tissues are present in the body and how they impact health outcomes. When choosing a body composition technique, it’s important to consider the intended purpose. What information are you looking to gather? What’s reasonable for the patient? Are you looking for a one-time measurement, or will you be able to reassess? Join Courtney Lee, MS, RDN, CDN, CLT, CFCS as she explores body composition techniques and empowers you to incorporate some of these tools into your daily practice.
